How to choose a kids rug
Choose a size that covers the main play space, so children sit and play on the rug instead of the hard floor. Use a rug pad underneath on hard floors. For more ideas, read our kids rugs buying guide.
What size rug for a kids room?
A 5x8 suits most bedrooms and playrooms; a 4x6 works for a reading corner or nursery.
Do I need a rug pad under a kids rug?
On hard floors, yes: a non slip rug pad keeps the rug in place during play.
Frequently asked questions
What size kids rug should I buy?
For a bedroom, a 5x8 under the edge of a twin or full bed works for most rooms, and a 4x6 suits a corner or nook. For a playroom, an 8x10 lets toys and children stay on the rug. Size names are rounded, so check the actual size shown under Size on each rug.
Which kids rug is best for a playroom?
Choose a low pile design in a size that covers the floor where play happens, with a pattern that hides small spills, such as a rainbow, road map or stripe. Add a rug pad so the rug does not slide when children run or crawl on it.
Are your kids rugs OEKO-TEX certified?
Our kids rugs are OEKO-TEX® certified and tested for harmful substances. Look for the label on each product page.
How do I clean a kids rug?
Check the care label on your rug before cleaning. Vacuum it regularly, and for spills blot with a clean cloth and follow the cleaning method on the label.
How do I keep a kids rug from slipping?
Put a rug pad cut slightly smaller than the rug under it. A pad keeps the rug flat and in place on hardwood, laminate and tile.
Where can I find shipping and returns details?
Shipping and returns details are on our shipping policy and returns policy pages, and the rules can differ by country and by item. Read them before you order, and contact us if you have a question.
