How to choose a 5x8 rug
5x8 is the size name for a rug of about 5 by 8 feet. The actual size is shown under Size on each rug and can be a few inches smaller.
What room is a 5x8 rug good for?
It fits a small living room, a bedroom, a home office or a dining nook. In a bedroom a 5x8 suits a twin bed, or sits at the foot of a full or queen bed. For a queen or king bed choose an 8x10 so there is room to step onto the rug on both sides.
5x8 or 6x9?
Choose 5x8 for rooms about 9 by 12 feet or smaller, and a 6x9 when you want the rug to reach under the front of the sofa and the coffee table. See our guide to rug sizes.
Do I need a rug pad?
A rug pad keeps the rug from sliding and adds cushion underfoot.
